Help with the Opsy app.
Need help? Email steven@psychedelic.science and we will reply within a few working days. You can also write to us from inside the app: we answer in the same conversation, so no email address is needed.
If you are in crisis or feel unsafe, do not wait for an email reply. Call your local emergency number (112 anywhere in the EU) or go to the nearest emergency department. Opsy is a journal, not a crisis or medical service.
Common questions
What is Opsy?
A guided journal. You write about your day, a specific experience, or how you are doing, and a companion asks one gentle follow-up question at a time, so a few minutes of writing turns into something you can understand later. It also offers a short wellbeing check-in and a follow-up for integrating a past experience.
Where are my entries stored?
On your phone, encrypted. To generate each follow-up question, the conversation so far is sent to OPSY's server in the EU and processed there without being kept. The privacy policy explains every case in which anything is stored on our side, and each of those needs your yes first.
Does it work offline?
Your entries, exports and history work offline. The follow-up questions need an internet connection, because they are generated on our server.
Can I answer by voice?
Yes. Tap the microphone to answer by voice, or use the dictation button on your keyboard. Voice recordings are turned into text in the EU and are not kept unless you agree to save them as voice notes.
How do I export my data?
Open the Data screen and choose an export (JSON or CSV), or make an encrypted backup file. The file goes to your phone's share sheet, so you can save it wherever you like.
How do I delete my data?
- Everything on your phone: Data screen, then "Erase everything". This cannot be undone.
- Saved voice notes: Data screen, then "Delete my voice notes".
- A saved conversation copy: Data screen, then "Delete my recording".
- Anything else, or if you no longer have the app: email us with the code the app showed you.
Is Opsy medical advice?
No. Opsy does not diagnose or treat anything, gives no medical or dosing advice, and does not help anyone obtain any substance. Talk to a qualified clinician about your health.
What do I need?
An iPhone with iOS 15 or later, or an Android phone with Android 8 or later. You must be 18 or older.

Email steven@psychedelic.science with what you were doing, what happened, and your phone model. Please do not include journal content unless it is needed to understand the problem.
